About Mr. Feid

I'm very excited to be joining the Cornish Elementary School community this year! I grew up Haverhill NH where my dad was an art teacher and coach for 40 years. Growing up in a teacher's home is probably what guided me first into education. My first introduction to working with children was probably at age 14 when my first job was as a ski instructor for younger age kids. Later in high school and all through my college years as a student at the University of NH, I worked at a residential school for boys ages 10-18. It was through that work that my empathy grew for students who may need a little more help and guidance through their difficult childhood years. After graduate school at UNH I moved to Europe and taught and coached in the American School of The Hague in The Netherlands. I had traveled twice to Europe on trips during high school and knew that I wanted to go back and spend more time there. I've traveled back and forth to The Netherlands many times over the years and have lived there twice. Living there has afforded me the opportunity to travel to many other countries around Europe. I continue to have a love for traveling and my family travels every chance we get. Upon returning the the U.S. I taught in Hartford VT at the middle school level and worked later as a high school Athletic Director in VT as well. For the last 17 years I've been teaching and administering at the Plainfield School. This will be my 26th year working directly in public education but I have had many other experiences working with children as well outside of the classroom through coaching, officiating high school soccer and directing summer camps. In the past I have also coached varsity ski racing and soccer, as well as middle school basketball, baseball and soccer. While living in The Netherlands I was even lucky enough to play on a semi pro baseball team.

For at least the last 30 years I have spent time working with children or serving on boards on behalf of children. Guiding students of all ages while providing a safe and fun learning environment has been my main passion.

My family lives in Plainfield and I have one wonderful daughter, Alieke Feid. Alieke attended Plainfield School and then KUA. She now attends Wheaton College in MA. Alieke is currently studying in Rome, Italy for the semester. In my free time I like to travel to the ocean, visit the Boston area with all of its sport teams, museums and good food, referee high school soccer, and attend live concerts as much as possible with my wife.

I'm very excited to be joining the Cornish Elementary School and starting this next chapter of my career helping to guide students of all ages along their educational journey.
