Kindergarten Teaching Position

Cornish Elementary School seeks a full time Kindergarten teacher for a full-day program in a small, PreK through Grade 8 elementary school.  Ideal candidate has strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to form positive and productive relationships with young children; and has solid background in teaching foundations of mathematics, language arts, science and social studies using a combination of direct instruction, centers and play-based approaches to learning.  New Hampshire certification in Elementary Education (K-6 or K-2) required.   A Master's degree and 3 years teaching experience is preferred. 

Our school has a teaching staff which collaborates in many ways, and is currently working to articulate subject-specific competencies in conjunction with a standards-based grading system. We utilize elements from Responsive Classroom and the Safe and Civil Schools approach to cultivate a positive school climate, so the ability to communicate well and develop positive relationships with parents as well as children and colleagues will be another essential quality we seek.

Anticipated Part Time Spanish Teaching Position

Cornish Elementary School seeks a part-time Spanish teacher to provide beginning/first-year oral and written language instruction to 7th and 8th grade students 4 days/week, one period per day.  Small class size (8-12 students) in first year of start-up program.  Expectation is to develop equivalent of 1st year Spanish proficiency for students moving on to 9th grade at an area high school. 

Applicants interested in more than 0.2 FTE may indicate their interest in stipended/hourly positions available through our after-school programs.

New Hampshire certification in Spanish instruction required.  Two or more years teaching experience preferred.

Anticipated Grade 2 Teaching Position

Cornish Elementary School anticipates the need for a full time grade 2 classroom teacher in a small, PreK through Grade 8 elementary school.  Ideal candidate has strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to form positive and productive relationships with young children; and has a solid background in teaching foundations of mathematics, language arts, science and social studies using a combination of direct instruction, centers and exploratory approaches to learning.  Familiarity with Reading Wonders and Math in Focus a plus.  New Hampshire certification in Elementary Education (K-6 or K-2), or the equivalent, required.   A Master's degree and 3 years teaching experience is preferred.
