Dear Parents,

Our Grade 5 & 6 students had an amazing two days at Hulbert Outdoor Center this week.  Led by a highly competent group of Hulbert outdoor educators, they explored forest and stream ecosystems, collecting all sorts of invertebrates to identify; studied tree systems and how to identify trees by their bark and leaf type; engaged in simulations of the water cycle and predator-prey relationships; practiced their mapping and orientation skills; learned many new games; and worked together in a variety of team-building activities.  We are very grateful to the CCPTO for funding this important middle school experience.  We would also like to thank those who chaperoned the trip with me:  Mr. Judge, Mr. Lynch, Mrs. Parrott and Ms. Tilton, whose assistance there was invaluable.  I am particularly grateful to Ms. Parrott and Mr. Lynch for volunteering to stay overnight with us in our respective cabins.

This afternoon, from 6-8 pm, there is a Student Council/Grade 8 fundraiser.  We hope you’ll stop by for the Haunted Hallway in the Upper Wing and the Movie Night in the Gym.  There is a $2 admission charge; children age 5 and younger are free.  Refreshments are also available for sale.  Students grades PK-6 must be accompanied by an adult.

Picture Re-Takes: If you would like your student to have his or her picture re-done, or if your students was not at school during the original day, please mark your calendar for November 14, from 8:30 – 10 am.  You will need to bring in the whole packet if you are having pictures re-done.  If you need an envelope to fill out, you must contact the office to request one so we will have them available in time for pick-up.  Please call Dale Lawrence to make this request.
