Principal Newsletter

Dear Parents,

The attendance at our Open House last night was phenomenal!  It was wonderful to see so many parents on campus with their children, meeting with teachers and learning more about our curriculum and programs.  Thanks also to the CCPTO for providing a wonderful array of refreshments.  Our After School Program, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 8th Grade DC Trip fundraising group, the local Energy Committee and the CCPTO all had representatives on hand to provide information.

Also, any parent wishing to volunteer and needing to complete paperwork and fingerprinting was able to take care of that process last evening.  If you were unable to do so and would like to go through that process to become a volunteer or substitute teach for Cornish, please contact Dale Lawrence in the front office for an appointment.

Clubs in the Upper Wing will continue into their third week this Tuesday, with the exception of Monday’s due to the Columbus Day holiday (no school).  We have students participating in the following at the end of each day; some students are choosing one activity per week while others are taking on two or three:

Mondays:  Martial Arts; Mentoring/Service Club

Tuesdays:  Art Club; Robotics

Wednesdays: Green Thumb Club; Music Ensemble

Thursdays: Robotics (til 4:15)

Fridays:  Chess Club; Student Council; Yearbook

Today we held our first Student of the Month assembly in the gym.  Many students were recognized for their efforts, both in their school work and in their helpful, kind and thoughtful actions. Today was also the last day of our Book Fair.  Congratulations to Ms. Jones, who met her sales goal, resulting in dozens of books being donated to our classrooms!

Coming up next week:

Monday Oct. 9 – Columbus Day, no school

Wednesday, Oct. 11 – Fire Prevention Demonstration at school

Thursday Oct. 12 – Flu Clinic [please contact Laura Prignano to sign up your child for a flu vaccine]

Friday, Oct. 13 – Grade 6, 7, 8 Dance

Have a safe and enjoyable three-day weekend!

Warmest regards,

Jennifer Prileson, Principal
