Dear Parents,

I’d like to begin by sharing an important update from the President of our CCPTO, Kristine Newbold:

The CCPTO will be hosting the annual Cornish Elementary School Staff Appreciation breakfast on Thursday May 4th at 7:30 a.m. If you are interested in donating a breakfast item (muffins, scones, fruit etc.) please contact Kristine Newbold. She can be reached at 675-2914, or cornishccpto@gmail.com

Also, the CCPTO is hoping to go live with our Cornish Fair Sign Up Genius very soon. Stay tuned for the Sign Up link. If you would like to reserve a slot before we go live, please send an email to cornishccpto@gmail.com  and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.

This week has been busy, returning from vacation and jumping right into a fun combination of academics and Hollywood Oscars-themed Spirit Week, culminating in a final ‘red carpet’ ceremony with awards.  Yesterday morning we hosted Valerie Newton’s ballet corps, performing their interpretation of ‘Tangled’ (Rapunzel).

Coming up Soon:

  • Wednesday May 3:  CCPTO meeting, 7 pm in the Library
  • Wednesday May 10:  Kindergarten Registration, from 3:15-4:15 pm; Pre-K Open House 5 pm.
  • Monday May 22:  Ben Kilham, Upper Valley black bear expert, will be our special guest and meet with groups of students, sharing his experiences and research about raising orphaned bears.
  • Friday May 26:  Deadline to order Yearbook (see attached fliers for details!)

There are a number of field trips coming up this month and into June.  Please be sure to sign and send in permission forms to your child’s teacher.  Also during the month of May, students in grades 3 through 8 will be assessed on the Smarter Balanced test for math and reading.  Please contact your child’s teachers if you have questions regarding this assessment.

Attached you will find your student’s latest Café Services statement and the next set of menus. Please plan ahead to ensure that at least $15-20 per week is budgeted.

Warmest regards,
