June 16, 2017
Congratulations to Kelsey Dangelo and her eighth grade class for a fabulous trip to Washington DC! Students returned full of excitement about what they had learned and experienced during those three days. Good fortune smiled on them in terms of the weather, which made the trip even better. Thanks to all the parents and staff members who helped throughout the year with fundraising, and also to those who chaperoned the students.
Coming up Soon:
- Saturday June 17: 8th grade Graduation at St. Gaudens; 1:00 pm. All are invited to attend!
- Monday June 19: PreK/K Beach Day; School Board Meeting at 6:30 pm in the Library.
- Tuesday June 20: All-School field trip to Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS). Students will visit several display areas, walk the local trail, engage in some teacher-generated activities and enjoy the raptor bird demonstrations before having lunch there and traveling back to school. Please let Café Services know by Monday if your child wants to purchase a bag lunch for the field trip. Also, please check your child’s lunch account and make sure that any negative balances are resolved this week.
- Wednesday June 21: Field Games Day. Please send children with the following items to make their day optimal: bug spray, a water bottle, hat and sun screen. If the weather should turn cool or rainy again, a light water-repellant jacket would also be helpful. Kudos to Patty Abraham for organizing this!
Looking ahead to the fall:
August 18-21: The Cornish Fair is scheduled for Friday, August 18, through Sunday, August 21. Our CCPTO relies on the Fair for the bulk of our funding for the school year, such as paying for the Hulbert Outdoor Center overnight in the fall for our 5th and 6th graders; new playground equipment; Holiday Shop; field trips; . We still need volunteers to staff the gates and take tickets. It’s a lot of fun to do this, and a great way to meet people. Please go to the link below to sign up for a shift, use the link you can find on ConnectCornish, or contact Kristine Newbold or Corinne Kelliher if you have difficulty signing up online. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0b4bacac2faafb6-2017
Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 5. A 2017-18 school calendar magnet, courtesy of the CCPTO, will be coming home with your child’s report card next Wednesday to help you plan out your year. An electronic version will be available on our school’s website and also emailed with this letter via SchoolMessenger.
Hope to see you at graduation. Have a wonderful weekend! Warmest regards,
