Thank you for working through our first week with the changes in afternoon dismissal and pick-up procedures. We appreciate your patience as we fine-tune the process to make is as efficient as possible, without sacrificing student safety.
Other than our one snow day, we’ve had another busy week here at Cornish as students…
Practiced carols for the upcoming winter assembly with Mr. Foye;
Created and wrote their own myth or legend based on the Native American myths they read with Ms. Udelhofen;
Looked for evidence in poems with Ms. Varga;
Added and subtracted fractions with Mr. Budd and Ms. Thornton;
Constructed solstice paper chains as part of a counting unit with Ms. Formichelli and Ms. Coolidge;
Explored disaster responses and preparing an emergency kit with Ms. Prignano and Ms. Jones;
Reviewed differences between perimeter and area with Ms. Sinclair;
Read and analyzed the first chapters from Tiger Rising in Ms. Tilton’s language arts class;
Observed and compared 2 and 3D geometric shapes with Ms. Clement Edward;
Reading A My Name is Alice with Ms. Patenaude and Ms. Dyke;
Began a basketball skills unit with Mr. Holloway;
Described states of matter and changes in molecular energy in Mr. Colombo’s science class;
Attended Shakespeare’s Coriolanis at the Hopkins Center with Ms. Dangelo and Ms. Brodeur.
Mr. Foye and I are scheduling a short winter music concert to occur during our assembly period, scheduled for Monday December 17, beginning at 2:10 pm in the gym. Students in grades 1 through 8 will be performing various holiday music selections, and all PreK through 8th grade students and their families are invited to attend. If you are unable to attend this performance, please know that we hope to schedule an evening concert later in the spring.
