Ms. Coolidge Newsletter
Nov. 5-9, 2018
It was a pleasure to meet with you all at conference time last week - nice to share our perspectives on your children, and so very civilized to have an uninterrupted conversation as adults!? The class is coming along nicely for the most part, working on being more kind, supportive individuals,as a team, and as a family of friends.
So we are humming right along. We have been talking about “What rules do we follow in different places?” and enjoying the Big Book “How Do Dinosaurs Go To School?” The children had fun talking about good rules to follow and making up their own seriously silly rules. Kindergartners have been introduced to the high frequency word “to” and “and”, the short “i” sound as in “sip”, and next week the letter Nn. We continue our work in blending sounds together and practice reading “We Run” and “Go,Nat!” with our Gr.1-2 reading buddies. Please be sure your Kindergartner reads the little book “We Like to Tap” to you!
In Math we have been focusing on a quick review on size and position. Next week we will go onto #0-20 and the “tricky teens”.
Our “4 Winds” lesson next Thursday will be on “Predators and Prey”. We will be outside for several of the lessons and activities, so we are recommending that the children wear warm clothes, snow pants if possible, hats, mittens, and boots. Many thanks to Jody Schubert and Skye Gendron, our inspired workshop leaders.
Picture Retake day is next Wednesday Nov. 14 at 8:30 a.m. Since one of our classmates was absent on the original picture day, we’d like to retake the class picture (if everyone is here!?)
There is no school on Monday in honor of Veteran’s Day. I hope you all have a refreshing long weekend.
