Dear Parents,

We have some updates and reminders below regarding a variety of procedures here at school:

SKI SEASON IS COMING!!  It is time to sign students up for the ski portion of the CES LIFE program.  We will be holding sign-ups on Tuesday, November 20th from 6-8 PM and Wednesday, November 28th from 5-7 PM.  We are still waiting for final details of the prices and any other changes, but we will know before the first sign up on the 20th.  We anticipate a mid-December deadline from Mt Sunapee, so please mark your calendars to come on the 20th or 28th to get your child signed up.  We will also have volunteer information available.  Please contact Cathy Parks (252-4420) or Kelly Callahan (558-8675) with any questions. PreKindergarten and Kindergarten students who wish to ski must have a parent or family member accompany them to Sunapee. K-8 Cornish students who do not participate in the ski program will go to the CCBA in Lebanon for a day of swim lessons, martial arts, yoga and other fun games and activities.

A reminder for parents of PreK students:  If your child's plans have changed that affect his/her attendance in either of the two programs, please contact Sarah Patenaude direct by either email:  sarah.patenaude@cornishschool.org, or 675-5891 ext. 110 from 10:30-5:00 daily.

Beginning Monday, November 26, for student safety we will be changing the afternoon dismissal procedure as follows:

  1. Students picked up by private vehicle may be picked up in one of two ways:

    1. Any time after 2:30 pm, drivers must form a single, one-way only line that begins in the driveway right outside the east side exit (to the right of the library).  When their vehicle moves up to the exit doorway and the driver is recognized, their student(s) will be dismissed out the door and get into the vehicle.  Students will be picked up in the order their parent/driver is in the line of vehicles. At that point, the driver should continue north and exit through the upper rear parking area and Parsonage Road.

      1. Drivers may not enter the line of vehicles and then turn around to exit out the front gateway area.

      2. Drivers may not block bus entry; if you arrive early, please leave sufficient room behind you for the buses to pull all the way up to the front center gate and fence along the front driveway.

    2. Those parents/drivers who prefer to park in the Lower parking lot and walk in to the school to pick up their student may choose this option instead.  8th graders who have parent permission are allowed to walk themselves to parents parked in the Lower parking lot.

  2. Students riding the C1 or C2 bus will be dismissed out of the front entrance and will board the buses out on the main driveway.  During dismissal, no other vehicles will be permitted in front of or behind the buses, and no vehicles may be permitted to go around the buses to go down the driveway towards Town Hall.

Coming up next week:

  • Monday November 12:  Veterans Day observed; no school.

  • Wednesday November 14, 8:30 am – Picture re-takes!  If your child was absent on the original Picture Day, or would like a ‘do-over’, please make sure to have them come to school dressed for a successful photo!

Wishing you restful Veterans Day weekend; warmest regards,
