Dear Parents,

It’s been another busy week, with a couple of super-cold days keeping us indoors for some of our recess time.  We’re still seeing some students coming to school without mittens or missing their hats, so please be sure to bundle them up – it’s a cold wait by the bus stop.  Thank you to Mr. Holloway for working with students in our Gymnasium when we have to do indoor recess during this cold snap!  In addition to students completing their iReady testing, and working their basketball skills in PE classes with Mr. Holloway, students have been….

  • Designing and testing model steamboats for maximum thermal energy with Mr. Colombo;

  • Coloring and then comparing ‘big, medium and small’ Christmas trees with Ms. Dyke;

  • Reading and discussing The Lightning Thief with Ms. Dangelo-Worth;

  • Exploring the concept of slope (rise over run) with Mr. Budd;

  • Giving research presentations on substance abuse with Ms. Jones and Ms. Prignano;

  • Building gingerbread houses with Ms. Coolidge and Ms. Clement Edward;

  • Identifying theme in various genres with Ms. Tilton;

  • Studying the skeletomuscular system with Ms. Udelhofen;

  • Using color feathers and modge-podge to create bowls with Ms. Wolfinger;

  • Selecting lovely gifts for their family and friends at the Holiday Shop, with volunteers from CCPTO doing all the setup, organizing and wrapping – thank you so much for making the holidays that much brighter!

Our first home basketball games were very exciting.  Although the boys’ grade 5-6 team lost to Newport, the boys’ grade 7-8 team handily won theirs against Lempster.  The 7-8 team also won their first away game in Lebanon.  Next week the girls’ grade 2-3-4 team will play their first game in Hartland.  Check out the link below for a complete schedule of all games and practices, and come out to support our

Pretty soon quite a few of our students, parents and staff chaperones will be hitting the slopes for our Ski/LIFE Fridays, which starts January 11.  Those students who are not planning to ski or snowboard will be participating in a combination of morning swim lessons at the Witherell Center in Lebanon, followed by afternoon activities here at Cornish School.  (Please see the separate letter and forms coming home today.)

Coming up soon!  Please mark your calendars for:
