Principal Newsletter

December 7, 2018

Dear Parents,

The weather has turned much colder lately and we are occasionally seeing some children waiting at bus stops or arriving to school without some of the winter gear they need to keep warm when outdoors.  Please remember to have your child put on their hats, mittens, a winter jacket and boots before they leave for school in the morning.

Our students have been working hard all fall and we are currently in the midst of assessing how much growth they have made in their reading and math skills.  We hope to finish up before the winter vacation break.  Our teachers have been working hard to identify areas that our students need to reinforce and have been meeting with a math consultant each month to review student work and generate different approaches to instruction in response.

This morning we had ski rental fittings for a number of students who are planning to join us for the Ski/LIFE program on the slopes of Mt. Sunapee, beginning January 11.  Those students who are not planning to ski or snowboard will be heading to the Witherell Center in Lebanon for a combination of morning swim lessons and afternoon activities.  While younger children are engaged in activities in the childcare center downstairs in the afternoon, older students will be participating in Yoga and playing in the game room before we return by bus to school for afternoon dismissal.  Please keep a lookout for the forms (to be sent home next week) to complete if your child will be attending the alternative swim/activities program.  The cost for participation is $55.00 for all five Friday sessions (Jan. 11, 18, 25; and Feb. 1 and 8).  Scholarships are available and CES will be providing bus transportation to and from the Witherell Center.

Mr. Foye will be conducting a short winter music concert, scheduled for Monday December 17, during our assembly period, which begins at 2:10 pm in the gym.  Students in grades K through 8 will be performing various holiday music selections.  All PreK through 8thgrade students and their families are invited to attend.  If you are unable to attend this performance, please know that we hope to schedule an evening concert later in the spring.

Coming up soon!  Please mark your calendars for:
