Dear Parents, Friday March 16, 2018
Next week is the start of our state-wide testing. This year, the state of New Hampshire is replacing the Common Core SBAC and NECAP Science with a new set of online tests. The testing periods are meant to be shorter and the assessments will continue to be aligned to the Common Core Standards. Language Arts, Mathematics and Writing will be assessed in grades 3 through 8; Science will be assessed in grades 5 and 8 only. Our testing will be spread out over a number of weeks to allow plenty of breaks in between sessions, concluding with the science test in early May. If you would like to review sample practice tests, please go to the following link online from the NH Department of Education website:
Speaking of science, tonight is our annual Science Fair! We look forward to seeing you between 5 and 6 pm in the gymnasium to see all the Upper Wing science projects. There will be other displays around the gym as well, from MakerSpace projects and Adolescent Issues research to the Robotics Team demonstrations.
Spring may be around the corner on the calendar, but the weather still is very wintry, with more snow possibly on the way next week. Please help us by reminding your children to wear or bring their boots and snow pants, along with mitten, hats and jackets every day for outdoor recess.
