Dear Parents,

This week, our grade 3 and 4 students presented a Cornish History tableau, with direction and support from Jennifer Udelhofen, Cherie Ryan and Caroline Storrs.  Alex Judge provided musical accompaniment.  Many thanks to these dedicated teachers and volunteers!  In addition to parents, many from the community came and gave positive reviews on the students’ performance.

In other news, our 8th graders took off for Washington DC in the wee hours of June 6.  Our grade 5, 6 and 7 students traveled to the Beneski Museum in Amherst MA, where they observed and drew fossils, bones and reconstructed animals from the Ice Age as part of their study of geologic time. Meanwhile, grade 1 & 2 students were modeling the pollination process by using cheese puffs, paper flower petals and a juice box with Ms. Clement; Kindergarteners have been reviewing their vowel sounds and letter writing; and Ms. O’Connor’s students were able to take home their fired clay sculptures.

Any health-minded parents interested in joining the Wellness Committee, please contact Laura Prignano.  The committee meets 4 times a year.  A huge “Thank You!” to the Cornish Garden Club and Cornish Sprouts for providing the seedlings that we distributed last week to help battle food insecurity in our area.

As you know, we have had to make some last-minute changes in our bus routes through the end of the year. We are sorry for this continued inconvenience, as Butler Bus Company has no additional substitute drivers to fill in.  We are grateful to Mrs. Sue Cass for providing the extra bus runs as needed, and to our teacher assistants covering extra time in the mornings and afternoons.

Mark Your Calendars for upcoming events next week:

June 13:  Students K through 4 will be going to the Montshire Museum in Norwich VT, leaving at 11 am.

June 16:  Please join us for our graduation ceremony, 1:00 pm at St. Gaudens.
