Dear Parents, September 14, 2018
It was wonderful to return to school after being out for two weeks – the welcome back poster outside my office door, signed by all our students, the warm greetings from parents as you dropped off your students -- thank you all somuch for your kind thoughts and good wishes. It is indeed good to be back and enjoy observing students:
Looking for patterns to review math rules for division and rounding off numbers with Mr. Budd;
Learning how to share space, equipment and talking time in PreK with Ms. Patenaude;
Analyzing the legacy of the explorer Columbus with Ms. Dangelo;
Learning how to balance images and shapes in art class with Ms. Wolfinger;
Participating in reading comprehension exercises with Ms. Varga;
Matching piano notes to animals based on tones, volume and rhythm with Mr. Foye;
Discussing speed and velocity problems in Mr. Colombo’s science class;
Composing letters to senior pen pals with Ms. Tilton;
Writing nonsense sentences in Ms. Clement’s class to better understand grammar;
Completing individualized math center activities with Ms. Sinclair and Ms. Udelhofen.
Coming up next week!
Monday September 17: Picture Day! Be sure we’re all looking sharp for our class and Yearbook pictures.
Wednesday September 19: Community Breakfast (7:45) and All-School Hike! We need your signedpermission and all health and school forms. A letter and permission form were sent home earlier this week with your child; please complete, sign and return the permission form as soon as possible so everyone is set to go and we know how many to expect for bag lunches and the breakfast Wednesday morning.
Also, be sure to mark your calendars for:
Monday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 pm in the Library: SAU100 School Board Meeting
The Book Fair will run from September 27 through October 4;
Tues. Oct. 2 at 7 pm in the Library: CCPTO Meeting – all parents are invited!
Thursday Oct. 4, 6-7:30: Open House and Book Fair (opens at 5:30) – Come meet the teachers and other parents, and find out what all our students are learning at Cornish. Last day for the Book Fair!
One important set of reminders for all parents: we know there are a lot of them, but please return all of your child’s forms to school. For our students to go on next week’s hike, we must have all immunization updates and health forms submitted to the nurse’s office. We also need signed forms for students to use technology, go on local field trips, have their accomplishments or photos posted on our website, or participate in the After School Program. Thank you for getting these in as soon as possible.
I wish each of you a safe and happy weekend; warmest regards,
Jennifer Prileson, Principal
