*PICTURE DAY MONDAY Sept.17*

Dear Families,

We will be glad to get back to sunny, warm days after these last few grey, damp ones. The end of next week marks the end of summer; however, we’re still hoping for lots more time in our Secret Garden before the snow flies! Meanwhile, we are looking forward to our All School Hike on Wednesday. Grades K-4 will be hiking up French’s Ledges in Plainfield. Sturdy shoes, pants/shorts, and jackets please. Children need to pack and carry their own water bottle, snacks and lunch. We will leave on the bus @9:30 a.m. and return by 2 p.m. Hopefully we’ll have a fine, sunny day. This should be a fun adventure!

At Circletime we’ve read and discussed our “Let’s Find Out” magazine about “School Feelings”, and our “Studies Weekly” magazine about “Fun at School”. We will be learning more about getting along with our school family, our Cornish community, and the world we live in.

This week we started working in our journals. The children are asked to draw about a true story/something from their own experience, and then label their illustrations or dictate their stories to me to write down. The words “I” and “can” have been introduced. Please ask your child to read the little “I can…” practice books to you at home.

In Math we continue our work with counting 1:1 and writing the #1-7, as well as having fun people sorting same/different. We had a good time playing an “Attribute Train” game with shapes too, creating a train of shapes - connecting those with one shared attribute (shape, color, thickness or size).

I am truly enjoying getting to know and working/playing with your children. This promises to be an especially wonderful Kindergarten year! I find I’m feeling rather nostalgic about it being my last...

Have a lovely weekend. Do keep in touch.
