Principal Newsletter

Dear Parents,                                                                                                              April 26, 2019

This week has been filled with many exciting and varied activities:

  • Each day we’ve been enjoying a different theme, from Crazy Hair to Pajama Day.   All week, students and staff have been participating in the activities and the energy is infectious! Kudos to our Student Council and Mrs. Parrott, who have done such a great job pulling it all together.

  • Last night, the 8th graders challenged the staff and parents to a basketball game.  While the score did not turn out the way our 8th graders had hoped, everyone was impressed by their display of athletic talent. Thanks to Mr. Brandon Feid, our incoming Principal, for serving as the game’s referee.

  • Ms. Valerie Newton and her ballet dance troupe performed a rendition of ‘The Little Mermaid’ today in the gym, with an audience that included many parents and community members as well as all of our PreK through grade 8 students and staff.  Several of our Cornish students and alumnae are in Ms. Newton’s corps de ballet and performed in front of their classmates this morning.  We greatly appreciate the time that was spent by so many in rehearsals to prepare for today’s dance.

In the classroom, students are:

  • Practicing their addition skills for Ms. Clement-Edward and Ms. Fusco;

  • Researching Inca civilizations with Ms. Tilton;

  • Designing roller coasters to better understand friction, potential and kinetic energy with Mrs. Parrot;

  • Graphing data with Ms. Sinclair and Ms. Bonneau;

  • Playing mat-ball in PE with Mr. Holloway;

  • Learning about the Senate and how it works with Ms. Udelhofen and Mrs. Ryan;

  • Identifying bones in our skeleton with Ms. Dyke.

Our state testing will continue for grades 5 and 6 next week, as the 7th and 8th grade testing is now complete.  Grades 3 and 4 will follow later in May. Thank you for encouraging your students to put in their best effort.
