Meet our new staff
Art Teacher: Ms. Colleen O’Connor
Hi, as your new art teacher, I come to you from Newport, NH where I was born, raised and recently bought a house. I've taught art in grades K-12 all around the area. This year I will be returning to Lempster Community School and starting at Unity Elementary School as well as Cornish. I have been a para-educator in a self-contained class, taught art at the Boys and Girls Club of Manchester, coordinated a middle school after school program, substituted (mostly in band and the English Language Learners classes, neither my forte...), worked at day camps, waitressed/bartended, made subs/grinders, worked at a golf course... Yep, I like to work! As an aspiring artist, my favorite medium is clay, but when a kiln was not available, I painted murals and other community projects with Eagle Eyes and Friends of Art in Manchester. During my free time, I play golf, walk my German Shepard, Bo or spend time with family, friends and boyfriend Donnie. Please feel free to stop in anytime to see some art and chat about it.
Music Teacher: Mr. Alexander (Alex) Judge
Mr. Judge is thrilled to be starting his first year as the music teacher at both Cornish Elementary School and Unity Elementary School. A native of Hanover, MA, music has been a huge part of Mr. Judge’s life from a very young age. Upon his 2014 graduation from Ithaca College (Ithaca, NY) with a degree in music education, Mr. Judge spent the 2015-2016 school year teaching Kindergarten through Grade Five general music in Framingham, MA and the 2015-2016 school year teaching instrumental music to middle schoolers who attended Catholic schools within the archdiocese of Baltimore, MD. As a musician, Mr. Judge is primarily a saxophonist. However, he is proficient at playing and teaching all woodwind, brass, percussion, string, piano, guitar, and vocal instruments, and is looking forward to sharing his skillset and passion for making music with the entire Cornish and Unity community. When he is not teaching music, Mr. Judge enjoys running, writing, spending time with friends and family, cheering on the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics, and working on his three point shot.
School Counselor: Ms. Diana Fontaine
Physical Education Teacher: Ms. Patty Abraham
My name is Diana Fontaine and I am the new School Counselor here at Cornish Elementary School. I was born in raised in Southern New Hampshire where I have lived all of my life, except for the two years that I lived in Utah where I finished my undergraduate degree in Psychology. We moved back to NH in 2013 and I attended graduate school at Rivier University in Nashua and graduated this past May. I have been married for 17 years this coming November. I have a passion for reading, watching good movies, and spending time with my family. I look forward to working with the students and parents in the Cornish community this year!
Language Arts Paraprofessional: Ms. Anna Wood
I am excited to be the new Physical Education Teacher at Cornish Elementary; everyone has been so amazing and supportive. I come to Cornish with 21 years of teaching K-12 PE in Vermont and California. I am a graduate of the University Of Vermont and grew up in Vermont. I enjoy coaching and advising student council groups. My goal as the PE teacher at Cornish is to provide an active, safe and rewarding experience for every student every day as they learn about health and exercise and how important fitness and fun can be for a happy productive life. I am also a professional horse trainer and have ridden since I was seven. I have trained in California, Maryland and Connecticut. I love teaching riding to kids and adults who love horses and want to learn more about riding and taking care of horses.
My name is Anna Wood; I'm a ParaEducator at Cornish Elementary, primarily supporting students with writing and reading in the Upper Wing. I have been in education for the last four years, most recently in the Newport School District. I received my degree in Legal Studies in 2006 from Kaplan University. I was a professional photographer for twenty years and also have a background in sales. I came to Cornish because I enjoy working with children of all ages. I am honored to work with the children and staff here and feel I have truly found my home.
